My Button Collection

My blog, my tumblr and I are all back from the dead. Huzzah!

Planning trips and daydreaming

I’m getting pretty excited about 2012. 2011 was royally shitburgers, so I’m super pumped for the coming year. Here’s where I’m going:

June: Adelaide (The Great Southern Slam - like the Aussie WFTDA champs)

July: Cairns (for wee cousin Atticus’ fourth birthday)

October: Vegas (for Danny & Jess’ wedding!)

November: Indiana (for Halloween, fall<3 and to see all the people I love) and Atlanta, GA for WFTDA champs, which again, fall on my birthday! Seriously, could there be a better way to celebrate?

Last year when I had moved home and was saving up to go back to Canada, this girl at work (who was always buying cute clothes ‘n’ shit) was like, “How can you afford to travel all the time?” (Not that I actually can, but that’s beside the point) and I said that I just don’t buy anything - I don’t buy clothes or shoes or bags or whatever, until the stuff I own is literally falling apart (I’m actually currently waiting to be reprimanded at work for wearing shoes that could well belong to a hobo). She was horrified, and went all, “Oh I could never do that, I love clothes, I love jewellery, blah blah blah.” Well, there you have it. That’s your priority when you’re spending your money, this is mine. Well, this and roller skates.

So, because I’m a giant raging nerd totally cool, I’m doing the Reddit Body Transformation Challenge. You win like a box of muesli bars or something - so clearly I’m aiming for first place - but mostly I think it’ll be really cool to be a part of a community of people who are all also doing the same thing.

It goes for three months, and I had to take BEFORE PHOTOS (the horror) that won’t surface until the after photos are done, too.

So I have two more weeks of unlimited Bikram Yoga, which is excellent timing because that’s how long till training starts back (albeit after a ruthless culling of Defiants to make a fourth team. And by Jove, I better have my new Antiks by then). Then I’ll be skating twice a week and doing this bootcamp two to three times a week (for which I inexplicably paid $19 for 21 sessions). Then I’ll be a derby MACHIIIIIINE! Maybe.

I just did my first Bikram yoga class in over two years. Death by sweat is totally a thing.

Also, I just got done with 20+ hours of flying this morning, so sweating out all the remaining fluid in my plane-dehydrated body was probably not a good idea.

JUST FYI

I am currently in my hotel room getting ready to play Team USA in the quarterfinals at the World Cup. WHAT?!

Um, I just scrimmaged with Re-Animateher, Carmen Getsome and a few other Rat City skaters. It was so worth almost dying; man-flu be damned!
